The morning of 25th May dawned a little damper than some may have liked for Saffron Walden & District Riding Club’s fourth Show Jumping Competition of the year, at Bluegates, Great Bardfield leaving the competition a touch light on the entries front.
In the Novice class just five competitors managed to jump clear to make the jump off. Here it was Lily Howlett and her pony Jimbo who took the red ribbon narrowly beating Chelsea Gilder and Tuppence into 2nd and Ellie Berisford on Partial Eclipse into 3rd.
The Intermediate again saw only five make the jump off. This time it was Sophie Humphreys and Red who took the win with the fastest clear while Chelsea Gilder and Tuppence picked up their second blue ribbon of the day and Rachael Gemmill on Lily took 3rd.
The biggest class of the day was the Small Open. Robert Barker on Polly took 1st place, just beating Emily Duff and Jay Jay into the runners up spot, while 3rd place went to Sophie Haylock and Reason Why.
Finally the last class of the day, the Open, saw a win for Suzannah Engelmann & Mr Chubbs who produced the fastest clear ahead of Ed Kragh on Sophie in 2nd and Sophie Haylock on Lineout in 3rd.
A great many thanks go to everyone who gave up their day getting a bit soggy and damp helping run the event. Although the lack of competitors was disappointing, hopefully all those that did attend the event appreciated you! Saffron Walden’s next Show Jumping will be at our Annual Show at Bluegates on 15 June. |
