Broxted Eventer / Hunter Trial

Saffron Walden & District Riding Club’s Eventer / Hunter Trial at Moor End Farm, Broxted was their final competition of the year.
The first class of the day was the Eventer Trial. The show jumps and cross country really sorted the competitors out here and timings were only required to determine the first two places as all other placings were determined by penalties alone. The winner was Charlotte Robinson with Dino who pipped SWDRC member Cat Berisford on Maddie to first place by 4 seconds.
The Pairs faired much better over the cross country jumps. The winners here were SWDRC members Claire and Suzannah Engelmann riding Tiny and Mr Chubbs who scorched around the timed section to take the victory by almost 5 seconds. Julie Hayward picked up 2nd and 3rd places on Midnight and Monnybrook If Only partnering Peter Hayward on Dizzy and Kirsty Scorer on Marble respectively.
Kirsty then went on to comfortably take 1st place in the Novice Pony class, winning by over 10 seconds! SWDRC junior member Tessa Olley took 2nd place on her new mount Galaxy.
Suzannah Engelmann took home another red rosette in the Novice Horse, this time riding Blu-tack. They completed the timed section just over a second faster than Jamie Tant on Bella, who also took 3rd place riding Arizona Blue.
The Open Pony saw a win for SWDRC junior Robert Barker on his brilliant mare Just Mefys with the only clear in the class. 2nd and 3rd places went to Rose McConaghy with American Pie and Bethany Brown on Ozzie, who both overcame difficulties to finish the course.
The times were very tight in the Open Horse. Peter Hayward and Dizzy were the clear winners by almost 2 seconds, however just 0.5 seconds covered 2nd to 5th places.
