EVENT NEWS

The third outdoor show jumping took place on Saturday 15 July at Sparrows Hill Livery. Despite the late notice change of venue there was a good turnout to the event.

The first class was the Novice which saw 16 riders get through to the jump off. Madeline Dyke on Murphy put together an economical round to pip Catherine Robinson on Ami to the post by half a second. Kerry Ashcroft too the highest placed member award with her third place.

The Intermediate saw another win for the consistent pairing of Emily Edgar on Stirling, who also took the highest placed member award for the class. Lauren Sapsed on Henry was within half a second of Emily’s time to finish in second with another consistent partnership of Joanna Snell on Flash Harry taking third.

Ashley Atkinson dominated the Open classes with Master William. They jumped a stylish clear in the Small Open to take first place. Claire Engelmann on Tiny were hot on their heels and took second place and the best member award. Third and fourth places went to Emma Kidman and her two horses Dennis and Henry.

In the Open, Ashley Atkinson proved the quickest of the only two riders to make the jump off to take his second victory of the day. Kerry Fordham and Just Curtis took second place and the best member award with the only other clear. Third went to the rapidly progressing due of Emma Richardson and Corkie.

Thanks to everyone who helped run the event, in particular to Jo Wilkins, The Engelmanns and Jill Allen and to Vicky Rutherford for the use of Sparrows Hill venue at such late notice
