Hartpury - 14/15 April 2007

Saffron Walden sent two teams to the National Show Jumping Championships at Hartpury, Gloucestershire in April after qualifying back in February.  I think all team members involved will agree that Hartpury is a very, very long way away! 

The Senior team were our first team to compete on the Saturday.  All team members jumped really well and the team finished the first round on 0 penalties.  The team was unlucky to pick up just 4 penalties in the second round to finish the competition with just this score.  Only two teams managed to finish on 0 penalties with a further 5 ending on 4.  Saffron Walden's team were the second fastest of these 5 teams in the second round a therefore secured a brilliant 4th place in a competition of 22 teams from all over Great Britain.

The Junior team competed on the Sunday where they unfortunately had to start the competition on a team of three rather than four due to an admin anomaly.  Despite this handicap the team started well with the riders all jumping neatly, however the teams hopes of success were not to be.

Well done to all the team members who not only went to Hartpury to contest the Championships but also to those who ensured the teams qualified, but were sadly unable to make it to the finals.
